Beer Alert: New Imperial Pale Ales And Rice Lagers

Winter is ON. And American craft brewers are addressing the season with a full slate of new beers you’re gonna want have around.
Two Roads Adds More Juice (Stratford, CT) – In 2017 Two Roads Brewing introduced launched Two Juicy Hazy Juicy IPA and it took off. Then the brewery launched Lil’ Juicy Hazy Juicy IPA, a lower alcohol version of its big brother, and it also proved to be successful. And now Two Roads Brewing is extending the line in a different direction.
The brand’s latest addition to this rapidly growing, family of beers, Two Roads Mega Juicy Hazy Imperial IPA is a 10.2% ABV India Pale Ale with bold notes of tropical fruits, bright citrus, and mango. And , Mega Juicy gets the dominant part of its hop character from Simcoe and Hallertauer Blanc, varieties not found in either Two Juicy or Lil’ Juicy.

A Rice Move (Kihei, Hawaii) – – Maui Brewing has announced its first limited release in cans for 2022. Currently available on draft as well as in cans, Maui Karoshi Rice Lager is a pale golden 4% ABV Japanese-style Dry Rice Lager with grassy aromatics, light hop notes and a pleasingly dry finish.
Translated in Japanese, “Karoshi” means death from overwork typically associated with work-related stresses and pressure. Out of stock issues due to supply chain frustrations this past year lead the MBC brew team to name this beer after the common phrase. Head Brewer, James Newman said, “This Japanese Rice Lager is to die for, so don’t work too hard, and drink light.”

A Giant (Baltimore, MD) – DuClaw Brewing is returning a giant from its past, only its fifth iteration in 25 years. Aged to a deep ruby color in seasoned whiskey barrels, DuClaw Colossus is a 20% ABV Strong Ale that is shipping in 1,400 individual artisan wooden boxes, making each package one of a kind. This hybrid strong ale features a heavy malty sweetness with compels notes of apple and tangerine and a smoky aroma of bourbon and vanilla.
