Irish Craft Brewery McGargles Gets Major Private Equity Infusion (Ireland) – Rye River Brewing, the company behind McGargles Craft Beer has received a fresh €2m from investors and has restructured its balance sheet after incurring heavy losses in 2015/2016 having embarked on an overly ambitious expansion plan.
Rye River Brewing received the cash injection from Blue Bay Ireland Corporate Credit last November and plans to use the money to add further McGargles’ turnaround, up the brewery’s capacity, and continue to grow sales which they project could rise by 40% this year according to The Independent.
As part of its cost-cutting effort Rye River has exited its third-party distribution deals and announced that they are now, apart from a small volume of contract brewing, exclusively a craft brewer with no commercial ties to third-party brands.

Bell’s Brewery Has No Plans For CEO Replacement (Kalamazoo, MI) – Larry Bell, the president of Bell’s Brewery has according to Mlive no plans at this point to fill his company’s CEO position that was recently vacated by his daughter…so you can stop sending him your inflated resumes.
Laura Bell, who had been with the company for more than 11 years, served as CEO for just over 15 months before stepping away from the position in May to explore “other passions and interests.” Bell will remain on the brewery’s board, still have an office at the company and will have a continued role in decision-making.
