After so many depressing stories in the wake of COVID-19 comes a little good news for a change.

On May 27, a 103-year-old Massachusetts’s woman celebrated surviving the coronavirus with her favorite beer, Bud Light.

Three weeks ago Polish-American grandmother Jennie Stejna tested positive for the coronavirus and was subsequently put in a separate ward in the nursing home where she resides.

It was a battle that many suspected she wouldn’t survive….but she did.

Stejna’s granddaughter Shelley Gunn  told USA Today that her family had even prepared their final goodbyes (via phone because visitors were prohibited). But defying incredible odds, this wicked-tough woman beat the monster and she celebrated with an ice-cold Bud light.

And if Anheuser Busch doesn’t tap into this good-news story somehow, they’re missing a brilliant promotional opportunity…

In fact Molson Coors has already beat Anheuser Busch to the punch…

In April when the whole sheltering-in-place’ thing was new,  Olive Veronesi, a 93-year-old grandmother who was quarantining herself at her Pennsylvania  home, generated national attention after a photo of her in the window went viral on social media.

The photo, which was shared by a relative, and then by local TV station KDKA, featured the 93-year-old grandmother with the sign in one hand and a Coors Light in the other which read “Need More Beer.”

And the second largest brewer in the world was quick to act…

Learning of Veronesi’s predicament, Molson Coors contacted her daughter, Anna, who helped coordinate a special delivery of 150 Coors Light to Seminole, Pa., population 91, according to Beer & Beyond, the company’s blog site……

And while Veronesi is stocked up on Coors Light for now, Molson Coors extended a standing offer for more beer whenever she’s ready for replenish her stash.

And while we’re on the subject of the ‘old people and beer’ promotional opportunities let’s not forget about the 100- year-old vet who drinks Coors Light every day
