Fall is ON and winter on the way, and American craft brewers are addressing the changing seasons with an intriguing roster of new beers you’re gonna want to chase down.

Lighten Up (Lexington, KY) – One of Kentucky’s largest craft breweries, West Sixth Brewing has new year-round addition that they view as “strategic.” Full-flavored yet approachable, Sixer Light Lager is a 4.2% ABV refresher with a crisp, clean malt profile.

“From a strategic standpoint, it helps us considerably to offer a year-round light lager,” said Kelly Hieronymus, Marketing & Creative Director at West Sixth Brewing. “I won’t say lagers are going to unseat IPAs as the best-selling style of craft beer, but having something that almost takes less of a craft approach may be a way to re-introduce ourselves to a newer audience.”

, Weekend Beer: New Scotch And Blonde AlesA New England Classic (Boston, MA) – Harpoon Brewing has returned a popular cold-weather seasonal that’s been a holiday tradition since 1988. Combining the subtle sweetness of caramel malt with festive additions of cinnamon and nutmeg, Harpoon Winter Warmer is a 6% ABV Holiday Ale that’s both hardy and satisfying yet surprisingly easy-drinking.

Hiber Nation (Bridgewater, VT) – Winter comes earlier in Vermont and Long Trail Brewing has a robust winter classic you might want hibernate with.  Built on an impressively rich malt foundation, Long Trail Hibernator is a 6% ABV dark amber Scotch Ale with warming caramel and toffee notes that linger.

A Natural Blonde (Winston-Salem, NC) – Winston-Salem’s Foothills Brewing is returning one its most iconic beers EVER, a beer that basically introduced craft beer to North Carolina back in 1997.Originally created in Mooresville, NC in by the Carolina Beer & Beverage Company, Carolina Blonde is an uber-smooth 4.3% ABV refresher that was acquired by Foothill Brewing in 2011 and is now being relaunched as part of the brewery’s core portfolio.

“Blonde ales have a lot going for them” says Bill Manley, Sales & Marketing Director at Foothills Brewing. “They are light, crisp, and easy to drink, but still have a lot of flavor. They hit a sweet spot that appeals to light beer fans, and craft drinkers alike. It was one of the first craft beers I ever tasted, and I remember it well. It’s exciting to be able to breathe new life into a North Carolina classic.”
