Top Ten Beer Cities In The World – 2022

As snarky as we can sometimes get about beer rankings that are essentially built to drive traffic to different websites, we usually check them out anyway if only to laugh at their methodology.
The latest comes from Hey Discount, a UK website that offers discount coupons for all kinds of products (unfortunately none of them beer).
And its rankings are basically derived by the number of breweries (they used TripAdvisor data) per 100,000 people.
According to Hey Discount, Edinburgh is now ‘officially’ the number one city for beer enthusiasts, with 1.1 breweries per 100,000 people. The city hosts several beer festivals throughout the year and is home to numerous brewery taprooms.
Coming in at second place are Vancouver and Amsterdam, with 0.8 breweries per 100,000 people.
Chicago and Los Angeles are the only two US cities that make it to the top 10, respectively with 0.7 and 0.2 breweries per 100,000 people
What makes this ranking different from most Top 10 rankings we’ve covered is the sheer number of ties.
Vancouver, Canada and Amsterdam tied at #2. Dublin, London and Copenhagen tied for #6. And Prague, Sydney, Manchester, Lisbon, Los Angeles and Berlin all tied at #8. So yeah, that’s a lot of ties for a Top 10 list.

Edinburgh is a great city, but the best beer city in the world? Please…
And any international ranking with only two US Top Beer Cities is questionable to begin with. While Chicago has a vibrant brewing scene, Los Angeles would NEVER make a Top 10 Beer City if the ranking was limited to the US.
