This year’s championship, the only competition to include beers from professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers, was its largest ever.

More than 6,300 beers representing more than 110 different styles were entered and judged by industry experts from England, Canada and the United States.

Judging was blind…the judges only knew the defined categories (117 at this year’s event), but not what beers they are tasting.

Dallas Texas-based Peticolas Brewing was named Grand National Champion after taking five medals overall (three gold medals and two silver medals). Its gold-medal-winning beers were Black Curtain Imperial Stout, Great Scot! Scottish Ale and Velvet Hammer Imperial Red Ale.beer, The US Open Beer Championship Names America’s Top 10 Breweries

Cincinnati, Ohio‘s Brink Brewing placed second winning four medals in this year’s competition, (three golds and a silver). The gold medals were awarded for Hold the Reins English Mild Ale, Father G’s Bees Brown Ale and Duncan Clan Scottish Ale.

Sheridan, Wyoming-based Black Tooth Brewing placed third with three gold medals and a bronze. Black Tooth’s gold medal winning beers were Bomber Mountain Amber, 1314 Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale and Copper Mule Ale.
