On Monday Stone Brewing announced the launch of Enter Night Pilsner a collaboration they did with Metallica that’s been the buzz of the biz for much of this week. Stone and Metallica also did a mini-documentary about the project that’s almost as much fun as the band on stage…
Smartly produced, yet casual at the same time, the video includes a starstruck Greg Koch backstage with the band, as well as a late night drinking session with the band’s drummer Lars Ulrich at his place in San Francisco and the more than a year of planning that went into delivering Enter Night Pilsner.
Hey we’re big fans of both the band and the brewery and in the world of ‘Music meets Beer’ this Metallica/Stone collaboration is about as big as it gets…

Just as with bands, craft breweries have frontmen (or women) who speak for their organization. With bands it tends to be the lead singer – they’re comfortable in public -they enjoy interacting and aren’t shy about being on stage.
The men and women who’ve become the faces and the voices of America’s most popular craft breweries are, more times than not, are founders as well. They’ve been there since the beginning and remember when nobody cared. They’ve a passion for what they’ve built and can communicate that passion.
And maybe it’s because Stone’s co-founder Greg Koch was once signed with a label himself that he’s so at ease and entertaining in all the videos he appears in…But whatever it is he consistently sets the right tone..
And as those of you that may have caught Koch onstage at the Craft Brewers Conference back in the day know…he’s a damned good guitarist as well.
