We get that these kinds of rankings are borderline clickbait, but that doesn’t mean they’re not fun, especially on a slow news day.
Alcohol Delivered, an online alcohol delivery service (obviously!), recently amassed extensive data about the cost of a case of beer in every US state.
To gather data on beer prices, they collected prices for a 24-pack of Bud Light and Miller Lite from national or regional retailers in up to 10 zip codes in each state, a mix of urban and rural locations to keep things balanced.
Not surprisingly the cost of a case of beer has risen in 2024 thanks to inflation, and here are some other stats from the ranking that we found interesting…
- The state with the cheapest beer is Illinois at $16.43 a case.
- The state with the most expensive beer is Alaska at $33.62 a case.
- The top 5 cheapest states to buy a case of beer are Illinois at $16.43, North Carolina at $17.30, South Carolina at $17.30, New York at $16.72, and Kansas at $17.30.
- The top 5 most expensive states to buy a case of beer are Alaska, with an average cost of $33.62, followed by Tennessee at $24.03, Montana at $24.06, Vermont at $23.25, and Pennsylvania at $23.21.
Back in the day, it was easy to purchase a case of beer for just $8 to $10 in the United States but no longer…
So there you have it. Time to consider a move?
