With much of the world sheltering-in-place thanks to COVID-19, serious home bars are experiencing a resurgence. And one UK Company has picked four of the best.

Here’s the deal…

Just as in the US, the majority of UK citizens are stuck in their homes…And left to their own devices some are building state-of-the-art bars in their homes and gardens.

Last month Liberty Games, an on-trade leisure company in the United Kingdom that sells, pool tables and arcade equipment and the like, launched a competition according to the Drinks Business to find the UK’s best home bar, and awarded the winner a year’s supply of free beer…

Lee Morris, took the title of ‘Britain’s Best Home Bar’ and won a year of free beer with his eco-friendly home pub, which he’s called the Staying Inn.

The judges were impressed by its proportioned seating, great spirits selection, beer fridge, beer mats, darts board, optics, and a table football table added in for good measure.

Morris said the pub was made by hand from “a lot of recycled materials” and although he had had it for seven years, it’s provided a lot of respite during the current lockdown.

Greg Rhodes Tiki-themed backyard bar which featured an island ambience, a solid gin and rum selection, and a clever overhead glassware storage solution also made it the final cut. The ideal solution for anyone who has had their holiday plans cancelled due to lockdown. The owners of this bar said “if you can’t go to the beach, bring the beach home.”

Built at the outset of the Covid-19 UK lockdown, Lisa Carty’s Durham’s outdoor bar takes its lead from the more classic beer garden, complete with fairy lights and rustic bar stools.

“My husband, who was furloughed from work, decided to build the bar to enable us to all be together at least in the garden where we could have a socially distanced drink and a catch up.

“The bar has been fundamental in keeping our family together and has kept us all going. It has now become a talking point in our family and our local area and we have already received requests from people who want their very own ‘Staying Inn’.”
