Hey it’s Friday and the weekend’s almost here. The weather’s getting warmer and you’re ready for some fun, and that’s where we come in! We’re all about it and we’ve got your back big-time. Plus, we’ve got a special weekend beer pick that you’ll want to track down. So welcome to this week’s edition of our awesome Weekend Picks!
The inaugural South Denver Beer Festival launches this weekend, and since some of the ACB crew will be there, you should come down and join us for what promises to be a blast. This two-afternoon event takes place on May 4 & 5 at Clement Park in Littleton, CO, and features more than 60 of the region’s best offering 120+ different beers!Set next to a lake with Rocky Mountain views, the fest will also feature a special VIP section devoted to local distillers and chocolate and cheese producers.

You know that summer has officially arrived when Hollywood starts bringing out its big guns like Iron Man 3, which opens this weekend. And unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know what you’re getting into with this franchise already. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark whose world is torn apart by The Mandarin, one of Iron Man’s most formidable opponents. Early buzz on this installment has been huge, so we’re hopeful!
Our good friend John Verive from Beer of Tomorrow reminded us that the fourth annual LA Vegan Beer Fest is taking place this Saturday, May 4th in the “City of Angels.” It’s being held at the Roxy Theatre, and co-hosted by Tony’s Darts Away and Vegan-food goddess Quarry Girl. Even if you’re a total carnivore, the beer’s going to be awesome, and if you’re not, get ready for food aplenty, as this sounds like the place to be in Los Angeles tomorrow.

The Avery Brewing Company is releasing something special this weekend, but you’re going to have to visit their brewery to get it! This Saturday, May 4th at 5pm, the brewery celebrates its first Barrel-Aged Series beer release since October with the debut of Volunt Plus Erat. This wild-fermented sour ale was barrel-aged for 14 months with the flavors focused on a Cabernet Franc grape must. With just 55 cases available, we feel confident that it will sell out quickly, so you know what to do.
