The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – July 23, 2015
Hey the work week is over… And it’s time to start thinking fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals, movies and music to cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve a special weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!
So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks

On The Big Screen – What is it about boxing movies – are they really that big a draw? It seems like every couple of years there’s a boxing movie – and a new one is opening nationwide this weekend. Directed by macho-auteur Antoine Fuqua, Southpaw stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a failed athlete fighting to reclaim his daughter, in a role that was originally written for Eminem. Rachel McAdams plays “the girl” (every boxing movie has one) and Forest Whitaker is “the trainer” (every boxing movie has one of these too).

Music / Music / Music (Philadelphia, PA) – WXPN is a legendary “adult-alternative” radio station based in Philly and this weekend they’re throwing their annual XPONENTIAL Music Festival across the river on the Camden Waterfront. This two-day event (July 24th-26th) has earned a reputation for showcasing up-and-coming artists who are destined for stardom, along with many who already are. This year’s headliners include My Morning Jacket, St Vincent and Grace Potter – so you don’t want to miss this.

With summer now upon us and temperatures rising we’re dialing things back at the ACB compound and Atlas Brew Works has a beer that’s perfect around now. Inspired by the beers that accompanied America’s expansion into the West, Atlas Brew Works District Common is a 5.1% “California Common” and was fermented using a lager yeast at temperatures more common to ale production.
