Super Bowl XLIX (Phoenix, AZ) – This year’s Super Bowl features AFC champion (and alleged cheaters) the New England Patriots, up against 2014’s champion – the Seattle Seahawks – and it just might be a game that lives up to its billing. For the second season in a row, but only the third time in 21 seasons, the number one seed from each conference will meet and this game promises to be a legendary matchup. So let’s hope that this championship outing is as exciting as the “heads” say it’s going to be, that the commercials are fun, and the beer serious!

Great Beer Goes Global This Weekend (Secaucus, NJ) – The biggest names in international brewing will gather at the Meadowlands Exposition Center at Harmon Meadow this Saturday, January 31^st for the fourth annual International Great Beer Expo Meadowlands. This two-session (afternoon & evening) international beer tasting extravaganza will showcase more than 50 breweries from across the globe, each providing samples of their country’s absolute best. Amazing breweries from Japan, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Austria, Nicaragua, Thailand, Poland, New Zealand, Indonesia, Sweden, China, and others will be shoulder to shoulder with some of America’s best breweries. On The Big Screen – It opened a couple weeks back to polarizing reviews – critics loved it and hated it. But after weeks at the theaters, word of mouth has been building for Clint Eastwood’s newest film, American Sniper. Bradley Cooper stars as Navy Seal Chris Kyle in this true life story based on his autobiography – an accomplished marksman whose deadly accuracy also saved innocent lives. After four tours of duty, he returns home to his family and finds himself unable to adjust fully to civilian life.

Queen City Drinking For The Good (Charlotte, NC) – This Saturday, January 31^st, the Queen City Brewers Festival is coming to Charlotte’s Bojangles’ Coliseum -and by attending, you’ll be drinking great beers for an important cause. This two-session event was designed to spotlight North Carolina’s growing craft beer industry while simultaneously raising awareness and funds for a great non-profit, ACEing Autism. Our Super Bowl Weekend Beer Pick

If this weekend’s Super Bowl is as challenging and stressful as we expect it to be, we’ll be drinking lots of something brewed especially for this time of year. Redhook Audible Ale is a 4.7% ABV IPA with some amber thrown in. Redhook Brewing teamed up with sports broadcasting legend Dan Patrick with the goal of brewing the ultimate craft beer for watching sports, and we’ll be throwing back a few while watching this Sunday.
