World Beer Cup Returns To This Year’s CBC (Philadelphia, PA) – The Craft Brewers Conference also serves as home to the World Beer Cup, an epic competition that was first introduced back in 1996. Sometimes referred to as “the Olympics of beer,” this year’s contest will be judged by an impressive list beer professionals from all around the world – and will honor the top beers in 94 style categories from more than 58 countries. This year promises to be even more competitive than ever, as the craft brewing renaissance continues to reach all corners of the globe.

LSD Beer Gets Nixed (Minneapolis, MN) – Indeed Brewing was having a little fun when they named their psychedelically themed Lavender Sunflower Date Honey Ale, or LSD. But the he TTB, (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau), which regulates beer label was reportedly not amused and the brewery’s label eventually rejected according to Vice. The TTB can be so “not fun>”

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who’ve shipped us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and it helps us have a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night we hit up their latest Debut Series “draft-only’ release from our friends at Starr Hill. Midnight black, with a rich dark chocolate and vanilla aroma, Starr Hill Double Chocolate Stout is a full-bodied, 7.8% ABV Imperial with a deep creamy head and a lingering mouthfeel.
