Tavour is an app that connects craft beer lovers with rare and hard-to-find beers from across the country.

And as an online craft beer retailer the company does offer some strange brews. Beers with uber-bizarre ingredients. Beers that owe more to bakeries or delis than breweries. Beers that have a sense of humor. Beer that challenge the norm…

We recently covered Tavour’s best-selling beers of 2020 and found many of those beers to be conceptually challenging.

But the online retailer’s latest listing, the “Most Bizarre Beers on Tavour 2020,” showcases a number of brews that truly push the brewing (and ingredients) envelope…

Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

Jester King Brewery is a world-renowned maker of farmhouse ales and barrel-aged wild ales located on 165 acres of farmland on the outskirts of Austin, TX. They are famous for brewing beers using unlikely ingredients. And Snorkel is yet another example…

Tavour’s description…

“At first glance, Snorkel doesn’t seem that odd. But when you sip it, there’s an unexpected earthiness. A dry, umami character that’s delicious, but hard to place. It comes from oyster mushrooms! That’s right…a Mushroom Sour.”

Urban Artifact Peanut Butter, Banana, and Grape Jelly –Urban Artifact Craft Brewery (Cincinnati, OH)

Urban Artifact is a craft brewery specializing in the fruited and sour directions, few of them predictable like this PB&J beer…

Tavour’s description…

“If you could concentrate childhood memories and put them in a can, it would probably taste just like this beer. When it first dropped, we said it’s “what we imagine eating a PB&J split would be like.” And we stand by that.”

Evil Twin Midtown Dew – Evil Twin Brewing NYC (Ridgewood, NY), Tavour’s Weirdest Beers of 2020

In 2019, famed gypsy brewer Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, along with his wife and business partner, Maria has opened their very first permanent brewery and taproom in Queens. Evil Twin Brewing NYC features a 15-barrel state-of-the-art experimental brewery that not afraid to take chances….

This from Tavour…

“The first time we saw this Shrek-colored brew, we said it’s made of “the very same glowing ooze that turned 4 ordinary baby turtles into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Probably…. It’s actually made of real Mountain Dew syrup, which may or may not have the power to mutate.”
