Here’s the deal…

The Nashville Sounds is a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. And in Nashville their ballgames are an always an event.

Founded in 2014, TailGate Brewery also has a huge following throughout Tennessee. They are an award-winning collection of seven (and soon to be eight) taprooms all over the state that have become magnets for those who care about serious beer.

TailGate is known for its commitment to its team members: providing great wages, 100% paid health benefits, and great work environment for 175+ people in Tennessee. In addition to offering five award-winning beer’s year-round, TailGate brews over 250 unique recipes each year, and releases several small-batch beers weekly.

And the Tennessee brewer has just returned a seasonal it did with the Nashville Sounds ballclub  which avoids the obvious stadium lager in favor of an adventurous  fruit-forward Shandy .

A Shandy is an American word for a style known as a Radler. Basically a Radlers are lagers mixed with fruit juices and its history is wild….

The term Radler originates with a drink called Radlermass (literally “cyclist liter”) which was originally created by an innkeeper. During the great cycling boom of the Roaring Twenties, the innkeeper created a bicycle trail from Munich, through the woods, which led directly to his drinking establishment.

On a beautiful June day in 1922, a reported “13,000 cyclists” crashed his party and running out of beer, he blended it 50/50 with a lemon soda he could never seem to get rid of, and the rest is history.

While the Radler is a common summertime beer over in Europe, the American Shandy style is far less common in the US, which makes TailGate Brewery’s new summer release Sounds Strawberry Lemonade Shandy, which is now available on draft at First Horizon Park and in 4-packs of 16oz cans at all its taproom locations, all the more interesting.

TailGate’s uber-approachable 3.5% ABV Wheat Ale is brewed and blended with real lemonade and strawberry for a bright pink color, lively lemon character and ultimate drinkability.  And it pairs as well with professional baseball as it did back in Munich with cyclists.

“We’re the biggest Nashville Sounds fans around, and we look forward to this partnership every year,” said TailGate Brewery’s sole owner and original founder, Wesley Keegan. “Real lemonade and strawberry make this refreshing shandy a huge hit, so head to a game or visit a TailGate taproom near you to get it before it’s gone.”
