Rush Drummer Neil Peart Honored With New Beer

|March 16th, 2020|

Rush was always a polarizing band… People either loved them or hated them, there wasn’t much in-between. But one thing that most everyone could agree on was that Neil Peart, the band’s drummer and lyricist who died of brain cancer in January, was a one-of-a-kind talent.

Peart was a drummer’s drummer according to Rolling Stone.  “He won prizes in Modern Drummer’s annual readers’ poll 38 times, and was a formative influence on countless young players.”

And now there’s a new beer, brewed by a true fan, that honors him….

Carton Brewing in Atlantic Highlands, NJ has debuted a new lime-lighted Canadian Lager, (Rush being a Canadian band) which they are calling “Pronounced Pier-T.”

A four-pack is $21.12, which isn’t cheap. But according to Carton Brewing’s co-founder Chris Carton, ALL THE PROCEEDS will be donated in Peart’s name to research into glioblastoma, which is the type of brain cancer that Peart lost his battle with back in January.

The video announcing the beer is tone-perfect and worth checking out…
