Atlas Brew Works Expands

Washington, DC-based has a new flagship location. Say hello to  Atlas Bridge District Brewery which will officially open its doors on Saturday, November 8, at 11am. Atlas is the anchor retail tenant at the Bridge District, the largest multifamily structure in the world to pursue the International Living Future Institute’s Zero Carbon Certification. The forthcoming location will also be the first and only beer production east of the Anacostia River.

As part of this expansion Atlas will move its flagship production brewery location from Ivy City to Southeast DC, quadrupling its production capacity, as Bridge District will have a 30bbl four vessel brewhouse with 120bbl fermentation vessels. The 24,260 square-foot space also boasts a large tap room and sun-soaked patio, in addition to main brewery operation.

In keeping with its commitment to sustainable stewardship, Atlas Bridge District has implemented a range of environmentally conscious practices throughout its operations.

The brewery features a high-efficiency, gas-free brewhouse that is fully integrated into the building’s base systems, allowing excess heat from the brewing process to be captured and reused elsewhere in the facility. Standard water reclamation processes are still in place, and all spent grain is donated to local farmers for agricultural use. These efforts underscore Atlas Brew Works’ dedication to reducing its environmental footprint while continuing to deliver high-quality craft beer.

Words to Drink By

This is a business of creativity. I could come up with a plethora of ideas, but that’s not how this works, you need to use YOUR ideas.“–  Bob Lefsetz, music and media writer

Atrium Brewing Transitions to Brewer-Owned Brewery

Five years after opening its doors, Louisville, KY-based Atrium Brewing is stepping into a new era… the brewery is now brewer-owned. Led by longtime Atrium brewers Spencer Guy and Max Myers. The change marks a natural evolution for one of the region’s most popular breweries – one built on fearless experimentation and a genuine love for beer.

As the national beer scene settles into a slower rhythm, Atrium’s new owners see opportunity.

“Atrium was built with a vision of curiosity and creativity,” said Spencer Guy, Head Brewer and Co-Owner. “We’re incredibly thankful to the previous ownership for bringing Atrium to life, for trusting us early on with the direction of the beer program, and now for giving us the opportunity to carry that legacy forward.”

Atrium will continue producing the same beers that locals and visitors have come to know and love, while introducing new releases developed by Guy and Myers. Both the Shelby Street taproom and the Norton Commons location will remain open and active during the transition.
