Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando has announced the August 29th  opening of its much anticipated “Pirates of the Caribbean” themed bar …We’ve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.

1,980 UK Pub Chains Axe BrewDog Beer

According to  The Telegraph BrewDog beers have been scrapped by nearly 2,000 pubs across the UK. Over the past two years, BrewDog’s signature beer, Punk IPA, was hardest hit; disappearing from 1,980 pubs, industry data revealed.

UK bars & pubs are now opting to serve beers from breweries like Beavertown, which is owned by Heineken, and Camden Town, now an Anheuser-Busch property.

“Independent brewers across the board have felt the squeeze from the economic pressures hitting the pub trade,” Lauren Caroll, BrewDog COO told The Drinks Business. With costs rising and consumers watching their spend, pub groups have been narrowing their ranges, and brewery-owned pubs are putting more emphasis on their own brands. It’s not just us – every independent brewer has been affected.”

Disney To Open “Pirates of the Caribbean” Bar

Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando has announced the August 29th  opening of its much anticipated “Pirates of the Caribbean” themed bar.

First announced back in 2024, the Beak and Barrel is billed to a  “rambunctious watering hole” that will offer a haven for all pirates, bandits and buccaneers to “raise a toast to the pirate life!”

Historically, Disney has had a no-alcohol policy at the Magic Kingdom, but it removed the ban in 2012 for the opening of its themed French restaurant ‘Be Our Guest’.

Disney’s new pirate-themed venue which is located in Adventureland, consists of two major  rooms – The Mess and The Captain’s Quarters.

A large central space themed as a former mess hall, The Mess, features long tables that span the room, “allowing for pirates to gather ‘round and tell their own tales, while an anchor covered in candles and dripping wax hangs above.”

The Captain’s Quarters is fashioned as the former living space of a Spanish comandante and will include “fine artwork and drapery” on the walls that hasn’t “escaped slashing blades or burn marks over the years.”
