We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. But clearly all that’s changed. So here’s some of what’s happened in the world of craft beer while you were off enjoying yourself.

BrewDog’s USA Facility to Begin Producing Beer In April (Columbus, OH) – It’s not been the easiest ride for BrewDog’s long-planned expansion across the Atlantic. The $30 million Ohio-based brewery has been plagued by a series of equipment delays that sidelined their original plans to be online and producing beer in the states last August. But with the fermentation tanks, piping and brewhouse finally having arrived from Germany, BrewDog is now reportedly looking to start producing beer by next April.

Brexit Bites BrewDog (Ellon, Scotland) – And it wasn’t just the equipment delays that were holding back the launch of BrewDog’s US operation. The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that the UK’s Brexit vote “which caused the collapse of the British pound against the US dollar” was also a factor.

Words To Drink By (Chicago, IL) – ““Don’t waste your time on bullshit business plans. Forget sales, ignore advice. Put everything on the line for what you believe in.”

James Watt – co-founder BrewDog

Holiday Beer Strike Worries (UK) – Employees of the multinational beverage company Diageo, home to Guinness among others, have voted to “take industrial action” (translation: strike) in a dispute involving pensions that could impact beer and spirit production going into the winter holiday season.

, QUICK HITS –BrewDog, Brexit, Beer Mythology And More!More Urban Beer Mythology Squashed (Cerezales, Spain) – Last week a small newspaper in Spain reported that Antonino Fernandez, the billionaire founder of Grupo Modelo, who had recently passed away, had left 2 million euros to every single resident of Cerezales, an impoverished village of Leon province where he was born and raised. But unfortunately it turns out that the regional newspaper got things VERY WRONG. And the story that went international turned out to be just another ‘urban beer myth,’ much to the dismay of the bummed-out locals.
