Coronavirus Alert: Absolute Vodka And LVMH Pledge To Make Free Hand Sanitizer

|March 17th, 2020|

With the world reeling from the Covid-19 pandemic, hand sanitizers have long disappeared from store shelves. And now some companies are stepping in to help.

Here’s the deal…

Luxury goods giant LVMH and Pernod Ricard-owned Absolut Vodka are among the companies pledging to produce hand sanitizer as shops face shortages due to stockpiling.

LVMV, who produce perfume and makeup for upscale brands like Christian Dior and Givenchy, have transitioned their systems to produce much-needed hand sanitizers to help meet an essential demand in France.

“Through this initiative, LVMH intends to help address the risk of a lack of product in France and enable a greater number of people to continue to take the right action to protect themselves from the spread of the virus,” the company said in a statement.

“LVMH will continue to honor this commitment for as long as necessary, in connection with the French health authorities.”

And Absolut Vodka will be distributing high alcohol neutral spirit in Sweden for use in hand sanitizers.

Both companies have pledged to make these alcohol based-products free of charge to health authorities.

In order to be effective, it is recommended that hand sanitizers contain alcohol that has an ABV of 60% and above, according to the Drinks Business.

With pandemic fears escalating by the hour it’s becoming clear that Covid-19 will elicit a significant worldwide economic and personal toll.

Unfortunately lives and livelihoods will be lost well beyond the brewing industry, and we can only hope that it all passes soon.

Stay safe everybody…this thing is no joke.
