So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets…So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

Legacy Time at Saranac (Utica, NY) – And to celebrate it, Saranac has brewed up a special release celebrating their 125 years of brewing. Legacy IPA takes its lead from a recently discovered original IPA recipe by company founder F.X. Matt. That recipe used the most innovative ingredients available at the time, and inspired current brewers to pay homage to the company’s history by recreating a variation of the brew. Legacy IPA features a blend of historic and cutting-edge hops and can be found for a limited time in specially marked 125th Anniversary Celebration packages of White IPA, Pale Ale, and Trail Mix.

Anchor’s Getting Ready for Autumn (San Francisco, CA) – Anchor Brewing has just announced a new fall seasonal and it sounds interesting! BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red is their new 6% ABV Red Ale brewed with a hint of maple syrup. Its name was inspired by a beloved native California tree and it’s available from August through October in 6-packs, 22 oz. bottles, and on draught in select bars and restaurants, as well as at the Anchor Brewing taproom in San Francisco.

Calling Dr. Krunkles (Athens, GA) – Terrapin Beer Company’s got a new IPA coming out that you might want to look out for. Dr. Krunkles White Farmhouse IPA is described as a White Farmhouse IPA hybrid that reaches new heights in complexity by combining the malt and spices of a Belgian Witbier, the yeast of a Farmhouse Ale, and the hoppy goodness of an American IPA. Dr. Krunkles also features a dash of white peppercorn followed by wood aging on white ash for good measure.

A Peak for Pike (Seattle, WA) – We want some of this! The Pike Brewing Company will soon be releasing a new wood aged stout with promise. Pike Entire was born as a high-gravity stout, then gently aged in Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey barrels. After several months, this stout was blended with 25% Pike XXXXX Extra Stout, creating intense cocoa and coffee flavors that are skillfully balanced with the rich vanilla-like sweetness. It’s available on draft at the Pike Pub and in 22 oz. wax-sealed bottles on August 1. Only 180 cases of this beer were produced – so you know what to do.

New Pop-Up Launches in KC (Kansas City, MO) – Boulevard Brewing Company has just announced the expansion of its IPA offerings with a new, year-round addition to its core line. Pop-Up IPA is their “session” model built for frequent excursions. It’s a drinkable 4.2% ABV IPA with relatively low bitterness and a big, fruity hop aroma. Available in six-packs of 12 oz. bottles and 1/6 and 1/2 barrels, the new beer will appear in select Boulevard markets over the next month.

Widmer Rotates Again (Portland, OR) – Widmer Brothers has announced the eighth release in their always-interesting Rotator IPA Series and for the first time, it’s a lager. Hopside Down India Pale Lager is an aggressively hopped, cold-fermented 6.7% ABV limited release IPL. They’ve done something worthy here, so you might want to chase this one down.

Octoberfest Already? (Boston, MA) – That’s what The Boston Beer Company is thinking and they’ll soon be rolling out their popular seasonal to make it real. Samuel Adams Octoberfest is their 5.3% Märzen / Oktoberfest Ale and from what we’re hearing, it’s rolling out now and available in cans this year as well.
