The Summer Skinny (Fort Collins, CO) – As the East Coast continues to thaw and the West Coast gives thanks for spring showers, in Colorado they’re gearing up for summer with New Belgium Brewing’s Skinny Dip – a light and flavor packed summer lager. Featuring four hops and at a sessionable 4.2% ABV, this one’s gonna be a summer staple as the high temps return.

Funky Brotha (Dunedin, FL) – Wowing the Southern Gulf Coast with their farmhouse saisons and other sour/wild offerings, 7venth Sun Brewery continues the trend with their recently released Hopeless Bromantic. Described as a Brett Farmhouse with Italian Plums, it’s a sweet, funky delight that weighs in at 6% ABV and is available only on tap at the source. Get this one while you can…

Mutt in the Spotlight (Escondido, CA) – Each year the creative minds at Stone Brewing have an in-house brewing competition that they release as part of their limited Spotlight Series. This year’s winner, the Imperial Mutt Brown Ale crafted by brewers Drew Neldon and Steve Via earns the spotlight this year. Tipping the scales at 9%ABV and 45 IBU, this big, well balanced beast should be on everyone’s list.

Obedience Optional (Greensboro, VT) – Release #11 in Hill Farmstead Brewery’s Civil Disobedience saison series is a blend primarily consisting of their wine barrel-aged Anna – their famous Bière de Miel brewed with 20% raw wildflower honey. The barrels used previously held past offerings called Juicy, E. and Mimosa, giving off some mild funk, fruit flavors and all the traits of a traditional French Saison.  ABV unknown.

Cream of the Mountains (Rogers, AR) – Located in the NW Corner of Arkansas, Ozark Beer Company is making some of the best beer in the South today. They’ve just released an Imperial version of their Cream Stout that’s been bourbon barrel-aged for 7 months in charred American oak barrels, fresh from a Kentucky distiller. It offers a dark, rich chocolate flavor and hints of vanilla, without being too boozy. 10.2 % ABV.
