March is ON and American craft brewers are addressing the changing season with a variety of ambitious new offerings that are fun and user-friendly…
4 Giants Hook Up (Grand Rapids, MI) – Founders Brewing has a new Limited Series release that’s a mashup of four of the brewery’s favorite Imperial IPA recipes. With an aggressive bitterness balanced by a malty, sweet backbone, Founders 4 Giants IPA is a 9.2% ABV India Pale Ale with HUGE aromatics thanks to a brilliant menu of seven American hop varieties. “This beer really captures the essence of what I think is the classic Imperial IPA,” said Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki. “Everything about it is totally in-your-face, but the flavor dynamics still manage to work together to create a well-balanced beer that is extremely fun to drink.”
Spring is Coming (Baltimore, ND) – Even though it’s only March, Heavy Seas Beer will soon be debuting the 2020 variation of a popular summer seasonal. The perfect beer for trips to the park, hiking, or just sitting on the beach with your friends, Heavy Seas Smooth Sail is a 4.5% ABV Wheat Ale brewed with dried orange and lemon peel. The brewery will also be offering a draft-only small batch variation. Kiwi Strawberry Smooth Sail, is that same award-winning Wheat Ale brewed with kiwi and strawberries.
Dragon Fruit Not A Fantasy (Boston, MA) – Dragon Fruit is actually something real. It’s a type of cactus native to Mexico, Central America, and South America with a unique flavor profile that’s described as a cross between watermelon and kiwi…And the Harpoon Brewery is releasing a light beer made with it. Harpoon DragonWeisse is a 4.6% ABV fruit sour brewed with the Dragon fruit and hibiscus…a natural source of vitamin C.
Half Acre’s Canned Haze Play (Chicago, IL) – Low ABV beers have always been a big part of what Half Acre Beer does and they’ve an exciting new one. Available as a year-round starting in March, Half Acre Tome is a 5.5% ABV New England-style Pale Ale with a well-rounded mouthfeel and BIG juicy tropical fruit notes.
