The Winter holidays are now over. And American craft brewers are addressing special brewing milestones mid-winter, with an exciting roster of new Anniversary beers.
Forged in SoDo (Seattle, WA) – Ghostfish Brewing, which opened its doors in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood more than a decade ago, is celebrating its many years of gluten-free brewing. Instead of trying to mimic traditional brewing methods and then removing or reducing the gluten in an otherwise gluten-rich beer, Ghostfish leaned into naturally gluten-free grains like buckwheat, millet, and quinoa to replace barley and became an award-winning brewery. Now, Ghostfish Brewing is celebrating another milestone with the release of a special 11th anniversary beer.
Brewed with premium gluten-free malts and fermented with Berkeley Tropics yeast for high thiol expression, SODO Steel IPA is a hop-forward 6.4% ABV India Pale Ale with layers of peach, pineapple, passionfruit, and grapefruit notes, thanks to a deft mix of Mosaic, Mosaic Cryo, New Zealand Nectaron, and Citra Cryo hops.
“Eleven years ago, we officially welcomed customers inside our taproom and kicked off the start of our new business,” explained Ghostfish Brewing Co-Founder/CEO Brian Thiel.
“We felt the gift of steel was appropriate inspiration for the naming of our annual limited anniversary beer on the heels of closing the deal on the acquisition of our new 26,000 sq. ft. production brewery,” added Thiel. “We are proud to have carried forward the rich history of manufacturing that embodies the area of SoDo over the past eleven years. The century-old building that houses our SoDo-based brewery started as a steel foundry.”

A 30th Anniversary Classic (Paso Robles, CA) – This year, Firestone Walker is celebrating more than three decades of brewing excellence, and no 30th anniversary celebration would be complete without the beer that started it all.
Brewed continuously since day one, Firestone Walker DBA is a 5% ABV Double Barrel Ale that is partially fermented in a patented oak-barrel system inspired by traditional 19th-century British brewing. A benchmark for balance and drinkability, DBA is as classic as it gets.
In fact, David Walker once told us it’s still his favorite beer, and over the years it’s picked up dozens of medals, helping cement Firestone Walker’s reputation as one of the most consistently awarded breweries in the world. That kind of longevity doesn’t happen by accident.
As part of this year’s celebration, DBA is getting an updated look that pulls from the original label while sharpening it for today—a reminder of what’s always worked and of what a true craft beer can be.
