September’s just flying by and the temperatures cooling…And brewers are addressing things with a variety of intoxicating new beer offerings that pair brilliantly with the changing season.

Tyrannical Tartness (Aberdeen, Scotland) – BrewDog has a new OverWorks limited release that we’re definitely going to chase down. Fermented with Damson and Chamomile and aged to perfection in barrels, BrewDog Shogun Shaman is a 5.8% ABV Scottish Sour Ale with dry tannic notes and an almost  tyrannical tartness.

Farm Fresh (Laytonsville, MD) – Located on a beautiful horse farm in rural Maryland, Waredaca Brewing doesn’t bottle as much of its offerings as its fans would like. But we recently tapped into a bottle of something serious from the farm brewery that absolutely kills it. Deftly brewed with cocoa nibs and sweet cherries, Zydeco Oak-Aged Imperial Stout is a 9% ABV exercise in excellence that’s well worth travelling for.

99 Light (Abita Springs, LA) – Abita Brewing, Louisiana’s first and largest craft brewery, has introduced what they call a “guilt-free IPA for the evolving beer drinker.” The latest addition to the emerging low-calorie, low-carbohydrate IPA segment, Abita Hop 99 is a 4,2% ABV India Pale Ale that has BIG Mosaic and Citra hop tones and only 99 calories., New Beer Alert: Spicy Fall Sours, Farmhouse Ales And IPA’s

Ichabod Rides Again (Holland, MI) – One of New Holland Brewing’s most popular seasonals has returned for the fall. An almost perfect blend of malted barley, real pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg, New Holland Ichabod Pumpkin Ale is an approachable 4.5% ABV limited release that’s both full-flavored and balanced.

Oh Captain! My Captain! (Pacific City, OR) – Pelican Brewing has returned a prized release that took top honors this year at the 2019 Australian International Beer Awards. Aged in Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey Barrels, Pelican Captain of the Coast is a 9.5% ABV Wee Heavy Scotch Ale with dried apricot and sherry-like flavors and a silky-smooth mouthfeel.
