Spring Is ON, and  summertime not all that far away. So American craft brewers are celebrating things with a smart roster of artisan brews you’re gonna want to have around.

Truly Iconic (Kalamazoo, MI) – It’s an anomaly in the brewing biz, a seasonal beer with a “core” identity, but Bell’s Brewing recently returned its most iconic release; a beer which elegantly captures the essence of springtime, as well as the spirit of the entire Bell’s team, and the city where it was it was born.

Now available in all 50 states, Bell’s Oberon Ale is a style-defining 5.8% ABV American Wheat Ale that is crafted  with only four ingredients—wheat malt, hops, water, and Bell’s signature house yeast. And in spite of its  spicy hop character and mildly fruity notes,it is made without any added fruit or spices.

Larry Bell, who has now retired from the brewery he founded, originally named the beer Solsun but changed its name to Oberon (the King of the Fairies in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream) as a result of possible legal action by Mexican brewing company Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma, the Mexican brewer of a beer with a similar name, Sol.

“I wanted to do something inspired by Belgian brews but dialed in for Americans [because] there wasn’t much in the way of anyone doing anything Belgian-wise, that was pretty exotic,” said Bell in 2012, who notes he designed Oberon at 5.8% ABV to be lighter than what Belgian’s traditionally brew, but still pretty firm.

Luau Krunkles IPA, featuring vibrant, tiki-themed artwork of a character's face made of hops and fruit against a tropical beach and sunburst background.Terrapin Goes Hawaiian (Athens, GA) – Terrapin Beer has a popular year-round IPA that was inspired the iconic Hawaiian POG  juice. Playfully named after “Krunkles,” a legendary fictitious brewer Terrapin has “followed” around the world, this distinctive IPA, which originally debuted in 2016 as a limited release, has just been given a fresh new contemporary look

Crafted with  passionfruit, orange, and guava juice and a sturdy base of white wheat, flaked oats, and flaked wheat, Terrapin Luau Krunkles is a 6.5% ABV Hawaiian India Pale Ale that brings the flavors of the islands to your glass.
