Multiple Disasters Deplete Anheuser-Busch Emergency Drinking Water

|October 25th, 2018|

On Monday Anheuser-Busch’s Cartersville Brewery stopped brewing beer in order to begin canning much-needed emergency drinking water after existing stocks vanished due to multiple hurricanes and wildfires in the west.

In August, Anheuser-Busch delivered more than 100,000 cans of clean, safe emergency drinking water to Ukiah, CA, and Redding, CA, to assist with relief efforts from California’s devastating wildfires.

In September, Anheuser-Busch is sent six truckloads of emergency canned drinking water to local communities in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia as those states prepared for the expected impact of Hurricane Florence.

And in October, Anheuser-Busch assisted the Red Cross and sent more than 300,000 cans of emergency of drinking water to communities in Florida and Georgia for Hurricane Michael relief.

The water was transported from the brewer’s Cartersville, Georgia brewery which, along with the Fort Collins brewery in Colorado, periodically pause beer production throughout the year, to can drinking water to be ready to help communities in times of disaster.

But 2018 has been an exceptionable year, what with two major hurricanes wreaking havoc in the south and ongoing wildfires in California. And as a result Anheuser-Busch’s Cartersville brewery put an unscheduled stop to brewing beer so it can concentrate on replenishing the emergency drinking water stocks that are so badly needed.

This from Bill Bradley, Vice President, Community Affairs at Anheuser-Busch…

“Recent donations to disaster relief efforts have depleted our inventory of emergency drinking water. We need to be ready to help next time the Red Cross requests our assistance. “We’ve made a commitment to be there for American communities in times of need, and we are following through on that promise.”

“This program is made possible by our employees at the Cartersville and Fort Collins Breweries, and our wholesaler partners who never hesitate to go the extra mile when American communities are facing difficult times.”

For more than 30 years, Anheuser-Busch has partnered with the American Red Cross to provide emergency drinking water for disaster relief efforts.

And since 1988, the brewery and its wholesaler partners have provided nearly 80 million cans of water to U.S. communities affected by natural disasters nationwide.

In September, Anheuser-Busch introduced the water canning capability to its Fort Collins, Colorado brewery doubling its production capacity and enabling the brewer to more quickly help communities in need from coast to coast…And given this year’s multiple disasters that new addition was right on time.
