(Epic’s 2020 variants and 2021 looks even better!)

Epic Brewing has announced its 2021 Big Bad Baptist Imperial Stout variations, which will be hitting retail in November, and for many this annual release is a very big deal.

Epic, which was founded by Dave Cole and Peter Erickson in 2010, has entered into what they call “Baptist Season.”

And this year the brewery, which has hubs in both Salt Lake City and Denver is dropping six variants. Four are new twists on the original Big Bad Baptist Imperial Stout and two are new takes on previous iterations that they just had to do again.

Here’s how (drum roll please) Epic Brewing explains this year’s stout variations…

###

Big Bad Baptist: For the third year in a row our classic, award winning, big and bold, original Big Bad Baptist will be available in 12oz, 4 pack cans in most markets and 22oz bottles in select locations. Epic spent the off-season continuing to improve our most recognized beer to ensure that its 2021 release is the best yet.

Black Forest Cake: Chocolate, ripe cherries, and fresh coconut are layered into this decadent beer. The Tsunami of ingredients coalesce into the liquid form of a classic German treat.

Naked Baptist: Indulge in au naturel, Bourbon barrel-aged deliciousness, unadulterated by coffee or cacao. Jokes aside, our brewers have been begging to bottle this for years. One our favorite liquids ever!

Double Barrel: In collaboration with Blue Copper Coffee, we’ve aged green Columbian Coffee Beans in whiskey barrels and selected choice Baptist casks for a double blast of bourbon barrel character.

Double Jam: Raspberry, blackberry, and coffee come together – like breakfast on a Sunday morning – in what we like to call the most important beer of the day.

In The Rye: Epic strayed from the bourbon beaten path on this brew by aging it in 100% rye barrels, which add unique peppery notes and deep earthy tones to Big Bad Baptist.

Chocolate Mint: Big Bad Baptist Chocolate Mint is made with fresh mint and a copious addition of cacao nibs. Notes of mint live in harmony with silky chocolate and coffee flavor.

The 2021 Big Bad Baptist and its variants will be released on September 30th at the brewery’s Denver Taproom. Their Salt Lake City tap-taproom will release the variants on a weekly basis starting in October.

All six variants will ship to Epic’s entire distribution channel by the end of November.
