Jack Joyce Scholarship Awards $60,000 to Five Future Fermenters

The Jack Joyce Scholarship was created by Columbia Distributing and Rogue Ales & Spirits in 2014 in honor of Jack Joyce, who founded Rogue Ales in 1988.

The scholarship was set up to award students with a passion and desire for mastering the art of brewing working directly with the  Oregon State University’s Fermentation Science Program.

OSU offers one of the most highly credited and robust brewing curriculums in North America. It also boasts the highest student enrollment of any other program offered in the United States..so there’s that as well.

Over the past six years, the scholarship has awarded over $300,000 to 32 students. The 2019 Jack Joyce Scholarship winners are Alonso Corral, Ricky Molitor, Jason Racine, Ian Savage and Keenan Schaan.

Rogue Ales & Spirits President Dharma Tamm was quick honor Jack Joyce’s legacy and the five students who will be sharing the $60,000…

“Jack Joyce, our founder, was extremely generous, a true visionary and left behind a legacy in the Oregon community…We are proud to honor him and award these scholarships to passionate students who reflect the curious nature of Rogue.”

As did Columbia Distributing who co-sponsor the scholarship program…

2019’s scholarships were made possible with the help of several brewing industry donors….
