Looks like BrewDog’s not the only Scottish craft brewery showing solid growth. Edinburgh-based Innis & Gunn is reporting up profits for 2016 and a volume increase of 175%  partly buoyed by sales abroad.

Canada is now Innis & Gunn’s largest export market representing almost a fifth of the brewery’s volume last year. And a new joint venture with France’s DIP Drinks has led to 600,000 bottles being sold in that country in 2016, a number they project to double this year.

And like BrewDog has in the past, Innis & Gunn benefited last year from a largely positive crowding-funding initiative and acquired their first brewery which allows them to step away from contract brewing.

Tony Hunt, chairman of the board of Innis & Gunn views 2016’s results this way…

“2016 was an outstanding year for Innis & Gunn and the start of a planned transformation of our business. We acquired our first-ever brewery, opened new Beer Kitchens, launched some delicious new beers, achieved record sales volumes and won our 46th award for quality since 2009.

To top it off, through our crowdfunding we brought nearly 2,000 new shareholders into the Innis & Gunn community. Most important of all, we laid the foundations from which we plan to double the size of this business over the next two years.”
