It was a sign of times when 7-Eleven, America’s ‘beer run’ mecca, introduced its own home delivery app…increasing the possibility that beer-lovers may never leave their houses again.
Here’s the deal…
7-Eleven, the nation’s most (everywhere) convenience store chain, has long been the backbone late-night beer runs. And with its extensive US and international presence has bailed out countless parties that were running out of beer.
And yes they sell all kinds of things from rolling papers to pizza and chips…but for many booze (and we’re talking beer here) is 7-Eleven’s raison d’etre.
And in 2019, the Japanese-owned yet Dallas-headquartered chain introduced a new beer delivery service that took “convenience” to the next level.
And if you’re thinking they probably had to, you’re probably right.
Home booze delivery services were on the rise and in US states that for allow it with company’s like Amazon and Drizly, which was purchased by Uber Eats in 2024, already successfully riding that wave.
Although 7-Eleven’s delivery app, 7Now, first debuted in 2017, and was updated with a new section dubbed “The Beer Necessities” which includes a wide selection of beer including Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, Blue Moon, Brooklyn Defender, Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors Light, Corona, Dogfish Head, Dos Equis, Flying Dog The truth Imperial IPA, Heineken, Kong Big Wave Golden Ale, Modelo, New Belgium Fat Tire and Voodoo Ranger, Michelob Ultra, Miller Light, Modelo, Sierra Nevada, Stella Artois, and many more back in 2019.
Remember that 7-Eleven’s move was pre-pandemic, an action that seems borderline prescient in retrospect.
The delivery selection also included chips, pizza, a beer pong weekender pack and even aspirin, so there’s that as well.
According to Food & Wine 7-Eleven’s “nationwide” rollout is limited to 18 markets, which included: Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, FL; New York, NY; Norfolk-Portsmouth, VA; Orlando-Daytona, FL; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Sacramento, CA; San Antonio, TX; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle-Tacoma, WA; St. Louis, MO; Tampa, FL.
And the “all-essential” 7Now app is available to download at Google Play and via the Apple Store.
