Google Names The Most Popular Beer Brands In Every State

It may not be our picks, and it doesn’t reflect actual sales data either, but according to Google Trends these are the #1 beer brands that people in each respective state searched the most in the past year.

Not surprisingly bigger brands like Corona and Yuengling dominated this ranking. But in addition to some welcome surprises, (Bissel Brothers in Maine), there were several breweries that we’d never heard of like Springdale Brewing, the most searched out beer quest in Massachusetts, or Hydra Beer in South Dakota, search engine queries that we just can’t explain…

Here’s another thing that Google’s algorithm confuses, the difference between a brewery and a beer. Terrapin Beer Co., for instance is ranked as Georgia’s most popular beer. But it’s a brewery not a particular beer…just sayin.’

And do you really think that the Denver Beer Co., again a brewery not a particular beer, is the most popular beer in Colorado? Or were users just typing in “Denver beer” as part of an entirely differs quest?

According to Yahoo Life “ the most-searched beer in every state is based on top related searches regarding the topic of beers in the U.S. Data was pulled between April 30, 2018, and April 29, 2019, to reflect the popularity of the beers over the last year on Google.”

Since Google can detect which state the searches are coming from Google Trends is able to break things by state.

And while we get that this questionable list is borderline clickbait…That’s never stopped us in the past, so here goes….
