Jonathan Van Ness, who stars in the Netflix series Queer Eye, is teaming up with Seattle-based Elysian Brewing next month to champion marriage equality and inclusivity…and, oh yeah, a glitter beer.
Van Ness, a big-time television personality, podcaster, hair dresser, figure skater and LGBTQ advocate, will marry (he does that too!), a couple at Elysian’s Capital Hill pub in Seattle on June 4th.
And Elysian Brewing is holding a contest to select the couple and in a complimentary move also bringing back its GLITTERis Pride Ale in select markets nationwide on June 1.
Elysian, who sent shock waves across the craft beer community when it was bought by Anheuser-Busch four years ago, is a sponsor of the annual Seattle Pride Parade a four hour extravaganza planned for June 30. And as part of that arrangement has been named “official brew” of the LGBTQ parade.

And in spite of the beer’s a fruit-forward character and its blackberry meets raspberry rainbow flavor, Elysian’s glitter beer is a true glitter beer in name only…Turns out the only actual glitter you’ll find in GLITTERis Pride Ale is on its label.
Elysian, which has three times been named Large Brewpub of the Year at the Great American Beer Festival and crafted more than 350 beers since it opened in 1996, still operates two pubs, a tap room and a production brewery in Seattle.
Joe Bisacca, the brewery’s co-founder told Forbes that he wants Elysian “to always be a safe place where anyone within our network can show up as their authentic selves. You don’t need to change who you are to make other people feel comfortable.”
And the Queer Eye star is all about it…
“I’m so excited to team up with Elysian Brewing during Seattle Pride to share the message that all people should be free and proud to express themselves as they are,” Van Ness said in a statement. “I can’t wait for June!”
