Remember the Willie Wonka golden ticket that got a lucky winner into his magic chocolate factory? Now Breckenridge Brewery is making a similar offer, a free trip to Ireland that starts with finding a hidden gold can.
Here’s the deal….
Colorado-based Breckenridge Brewery is celebrating St Patrick’s Day with a whimsical promotion that was inspired by Roald Dahl’s Willie Wonka golden ticket fable. But this promotion happily forgoes chocolate in favor of beer.
That’s right Breckenridge Brewery, which was purchased by Anheuser-Busch in 2015, is adding a special gold cans randomly to its classic Nitro Irish Stout 12-packs. And if you’re lucky enough to find one and you post about it on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter with the tag, #GoGoldSweepstakes, you qualify for a random drawing that will send you (+1) on a free trip to Ireland.
Breckenridge Brewery’s Nitro Series uses roasted Irish barley, (which explains the St Patrick’s Day tie-in), to produce a rich, malt-forward brew with a velvety finish.
Its Nitro Irish Stouts come in four varieties — Vanilla Porter (an ACB fav), Orange Cream Ale, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Chocolate Orange Stout. But according to Travel + Leisure there are only 100 gold Nitro Irish Stout cans in circulation, so obviously the more you buy, the better your chances of winning.
Participants in California and Alabama don’t even have to that. For some unknown reason they are merely required to snap a selfie outfitted in gold (!) with that same hashtag.
So the gold can hunt is ON. Any Nitro Irish Stout 12-packs might have one but you need to get going because this promotion wraps up on March 31, with the final drawing taking place on April 1 which is interestingly, April Fool’s Day.
