It’s been five years since Boston’s Greenway Conservancy first tapped Trillium Brewing, one of the Northeast’s most progressive craft breweries, to operate its open-air beer garden in Boston’s Rose Kennedy Greenway Park and what started as a conceptual “maybe” has become a summertime beer institution.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19, Trillium’s downtown beer garden was unable to open last summer…

But now the wait is over one of Boston’s best beer gardens has returned for the summer and all is right with the world…

Adjoining Boston’s waterfront, with a view of its harbor glimpsed through the historic Rowes Wharf Arch, Trillium Brewing’s open-air setting is a striking centerpiece to the 1.5-mile greenway and offers a welcome respite from the urban grind at the heart of the city’s busy commercial center.

As for the beers, this year’s starting lineup features classics along with more experimental offerings including Mini Mallard, an approachable American Pale, Citra Free Rise a 8% ABV Farmhouse Ale and because this is Boston, Trillium’s dynamite dry Irish Stout.

And in addition to its always interesting evolving roster of beers Trillium is also brewing special onsite small batch offerings at Greenway this year, which is very cool. They’ve also a full selection of Sours and Wild Ales.

“Since we first opened the Trillium Garden, my summer in Boston isn’t complete without beers under the sun in our special home on the Greenway,” Esther Tetreault, co-founder of Trillium Brewing, shared in a press release. “Watching the seasons change in the heart of our city is a great way to extend the summer outdoors.”

Trillium Garden on The Greenway, Boston’s first fully open-air beer garden, is now open Wednesday and Thursday from two to 9pm. Friday and Saturdays the beer garden will be in full celebration mode from 12 to 10pm. And this summer it’s even open on Sunday from 12-7pm.
