Anheuser-Busch is billing it as National Light moving into the “craft” category and they have partnered with 90s sitcom star Richard Karn as its craft ambassador to sell the idea.

Here’s the deal…

Introduced in 1977, Natural Light was Anheuser-Busch’s first reduced-calorie light beer, instantly becoming a hit at colleges across the nation.

In 2008, Natural Light shocked the world, taking bronze at the World Beer Cup for “American-style light lager”. With that honor in pocket, Natural Light went into orbit in 2011, becoming the first beer in space.

And now “Natty Light”  is playfully positioning the brand as having entered the “craft” category. And to sell this idea they have teamed up with 90s sitcom star Richard Karn who played AI Borland in the classic ABC series, Home Improvement.

The partnership kicked off on April 2 (National DIY Day) with a social media video series featuring Karn’s helpful tips for novice craftsmen. Then on April 3, the pair upped the ante with the debut the Garage Improvement sweepstakes, giving Natty fans a chance to win $10,000 to turn their garage into a dream workshop.

“There’s only one thing better than cracking open the toolbox and taking on a new DIY project, and that’s cracking open a cold beer after it’s finished,” says Richard Karn. “The garage is my sanctuary and one of my favorite places to get creative and tackle new projects, and alongside Natural Light, I’m honored to help a fellow DIY pro level up their workspace.”

Fans can enter the $10k Garage Improvement sweepstakes by commenting on the entry post on Natural Light’s FacebookInstagram or X pages with #GarageImprovement and #Sweepstakes. Only one entry is allowed per person, so make sure you nail it… and the winner will be chosen on April 11th.

“We spent much of 2024 listening to and getting to know our fans better, and through the process discovered that Natty drinkers spend a significant amount of time in the garage. They are experts in DIY – constantly fixing, tinkering and fiddling – and kicking back with a Natty to celebrate a job well done,” says Krystyn Stowe, Head of Marketing, Busch Family & Natural Family at Anheuser-Busch….

“In an effort to meet our fans where they are, we knew it was time to get our hands dirty and help them with their hobbies, and couldn’t imagine a better partner than DIY icon Richard Karn to join the team as our first-ever Craft Ambassador in this effort.”
