Three longtime Asheville favorites are teaming up to create something a little special in 2026. Cultivate Climbing, Black Dome Outfitters, and Highland Brewing are joining forces to turn Highland’s campus into a hub for outdoor adventure, community hangouts, and serious beer.
Black Dome Outfitters
For more than 40 years, Black Dome Outfitters has been a go-to for Asheville’s climbers, campers, and weekend wanderers. It’s the kind of shop where the staff actually knows the difference between gear that looks good on Instagram and gear that will get you through a wet night in Pisgah. From technical climbing equipment to trail-ready clothing and camping essentials, Black Dome has built its reputation on expertise, trust, and a love of the outdoors.
And in 2026, Black Dome will open at Highland Brewing, bringing its signature rustic vibe and the beloved Climbing Museum to a space that blends gear, history, and community. This move creates an opportunity to connect with even more outdoor lovers in a setting that celebrates Asheville’s active lifestyle.
Cultivate Climbing
Cultivate Climbing has been part of Asheville’s climbing DNA since 1993, when it opened one of the East Coast’s first dedicated climbing gyms. For decades, its original location has been a place where beginners learned to tie their first knots and seasoned climbers trained for routes in the Blue Ridge and beyond.
In 2026, Cultivate Climbing will open a 20,000-square-foot rope climbing facility at Highland Station. The new gym will feature 45-foot walls, a dedicated kids’ area, fitness and training zones, bouldering areas, and two training boards, making it a premier climbing destination in Asheville, NC.
And with their help Highland Brewing “already a premier destination where craft beer meets adventure” will soon become the ultimate destination t for Asheville’s outdoor & beer-loving community.
And soon, guests will literally reach new heights, in addition to enjoying sand volleyball, disc golf, and even live music and artisan foods — all at one 40-acre property, seven minutes from Downtown Asheville.
