Beer Run – New Single Hop Brews, Amber Ales And Porters!

This weekend’s new beer offerings are all over the map, but that doesn’t mean they’re not fun …So welcome to our last Beer Run for July…And there’s plenty to like here.

An Artsy Ale With An Interesting Tale (Grand Rapids, MI) – Founders Brewing is returning a seasonal favorite and former ArtPrize winning ale with a new can design which celebrates its artsy heritage. Brewed exclusively with Mosaic hops and a single malt, Golden Promise, Founders Mosaic Promise (get it?) is a 5.5% ABV Single Hop Ale that was the official beer of ArtPrize, an international art festival held every September in Founders’ hometown. Grand Rapids.

Oskar Blues Makes A Wake-Up Call (Longmont, CO) – Due to its tremendous reception Oskar Blues is making a cold-brewed fall favorite, a year round offering. Hugely malty, medium-bodied and brewed with two pounds of coffee to one gallon of water, Oskar Blued HotBox Coffee Porter is a 6.4% ABV malt-bomb bursting with roasted nut, cocoa, and caramel notes.

Sweet 16 (Burlington, VT) Switchback Brewing is FINALLY releasing one of Vermont’s favorite beers in 16oz cans. Naturally carbonated and a 100 percent unfiltered, Switchback Ale is a 5% ABV Amber ale that’s brewed with five different malts, select hop varieties, and their own specially cultivated yeast.

New Voodoo (Ft Collins, CO) – New Belgium has a new Voodoo Ranger Series release that rethinks the whole ‘pumpkin beer’ thing entirely. Neither too spicy, or too sweet, Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin is a medium-bodied 6.4% ale that pours bright autumnal orange with a light white lacing, and a spicy, warming mouthfeel.

Getting Funky Fort Collins, CO) – Colorado’s Funkwerks has a tart new limited release that’s ONLY available in the oddly named yet brilliant Winky’s Snack Pack. Light, bright and purple-hued, Funkwerks Boysenberry Provincal is a 4.2% ABV Sour Ale that was crafted uses a hefty dose of fresh boysenberry puree during fermentation.
