The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening in the beer world while you were enjoying the weekend.
Prost Brewing Plans Fifth Colorado Biergarten
Prost Brewing, one of our favorite Colorado brewers in a state renowned for its craft beers, has announced plans to expand its network of German inspired biergartens.
Set to open in 2026, Prost’s Wheat Ridge biergarten which is set on a pond with a mountain view, will feature an open-concept space that includes a fully enclosed patio, dining room, and private events spaces. It will also feature a state-of-the-art 1bbl R&D brewhouse where guests can watch small-batch innovation happening in real time.
“This expansion is part of our bigger vision of strategic growth through biergartens that bring people together over award-winning bier and German traditions,” said David Deline, president of Prost. “We have spent years developing a strong brand and an authentic cultural experience. Whether someone’s a regular, a traveler, or just curious, our biergartens create a space where everyone can drink like a German and feel part of the Prost community.”
At a time when many craft brewers are struggling, this expansion builds on the momentum of its existing biergartens in Denver, Fort Collins, Highlands Ranch, and most recently, Northglenn, home to both a 10,000 sq. ft. biergarten and Prost’s new 60,000 sq. ft. brewery and production HQ.

5 Weird Beers From The Past
Over the last two decades craft brewers have pushing the boundaries of what beer can be by using ingredients you’d never expect. And here are five beers that are no longer around that were brewed with truly questionable ingredients.
1) Rogue Beard Beer – Rogue Ales (Newport, Oregon)
A testament to the wild yeast trend in brewing, this beer was fermented using wild yeast harvested from the brewer’s beard!.
2) Mamma Mia! Pizza Beer (Illinois, USA)
This beer is brewed with actual margarita pizza in the mash. It was tomatoey, herby, and surprisingly drinkable for a tomato-based brew.
3) Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout – Wynkoop Brewing (Denver, Colorado)
This meaty stout with a smoky character was brewed with roasted bull testicles. This beer began as an April Fool’s joke and things should have stopped there.
4) Dock Street Walker – Dock Street Brewing (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
Inspired by The Walking Dead TV series, this zombie-themed beer, that was not for the faint of heart, was crafted with smoked goat brains and cranberries.
5) Hvalur 2 – Stedji Brewery (Iceland)
Brewed with smoked whale testicles that have been cured in sheep dung was as intense as it sounds—and unfortunately it remains an unforgettable part of Iceland’s brewing culture.
