A small boutique brewery located 20 miles southwest of Eugene, Oregon recently received a huge honor. We’ve that, “Words to Drink By,” and more Trump-themed beers.
Oregon Brewery Named Brewery Of The Year
Eugene, Oregon-based Alesong Brewery & Blending has been named “Brewery of the Year” at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival, a tremendous honor for a boutique brewery renowned for its Wild Ales and barrel-aging programs.
Alesong was founded in 2015 by Matt Van Wyk and brothers Brian and Doug Coombs to elevate the way beer is perceived and experienced and lean into true small-batch craftsmanship. And being named “Brewery of the Year” at the prestigious GABF awards is but the latest testament to their commitment.
Alesong was awarded a gold medal for their French 75, a barrel-aged sour, and a bronze medal in the Brett beer style category for their Touch of Brett farmhouse ale. Brewery of the year honors were given to the most awarded producers out of nearly 1,900 breweries and cideries who entered the competition.
“GABF is the big stage in US craft beer and in particular means a lot to us because the judges are professional brewers whose positive feedback validates the care and hard work that goes into crafting the unique beers that we make,” Brian Coombs, Alesong co-founder and Director of Brewing Operations, told 15 News. We’ve had a good string of success at this competition, but you never really expect to win one of the major awards given just how competitive it is.”

More Trump-Themed Craft Beers
Love him, or hate him, Donald Trump is a larger-than-life character and the soon-to-be 47th President of the United States has spawned a number of craft beers over his previous run with names that either embraced him or took a more satirical approach to his persona.
And here are five Trump-themed craft beers produced over the years, that showcase both humor and political snark.
Dump The Trump American IPA – Behemoth Brewing (New Zealand) – Behemoth’s Dump Trump IPA was a 6.5% ABV American India Pale Ale that the Aukland brewery claimed was uber-hoppy thanks to “uge” amounts of protest hops.
Stable Genius Double IPA – Level Beer (Oregon) – Inspired by Trump’s self-description as a “stable genius,” this IPA is bold and strong, much like Trump’s personality. The beer’s high alcohol content and robust hop profile reflect its larger-than-life inspiration if not his self-proclaimed “genius.”
Trump Golden Ale – Fóti Craft Brewery (Hungary) – Released in 2016, this beer was created to celebrate Trump’s election victory. A golden ale with a malty character, it was marketed to capture Trump’s bold, larger-than-life persona.
Fake News New England IPA – Gizmo BrewWorks (North Carolina) – A satirical beer taking aim at Trump’s frequent use of the term “fake news.” This IPA is a hoppy brew with a bold flavor, offering a tongue-in-cheek jab at the media landscape during Trump’s presidency.
Sad! Lager – Spiteful Brewing (Illinois) -A jab at Trump’s frequent use of the word “Sad!” on Twitter, this lager was brewed as a light, crisp beer. The name is a playful dig at Trump’s social media commentary and offers a refreshing drinking experience.
