The economic impact of the pandemic and inflation has put an end to two Pacific Northwest Brewing institutions. We’ve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.

Lagunitas Seattle Brewery And Taproom To Close In January (Seattle, WA) – Even though Lagunitas is now owned by Heineken, news that the international brewer would be shuttering its Seattle taproom was sad news for residents who viewed the Pacific Northwest venue as having retained its independent craft beer character. According to the Washington Beer Blog  “the brewer is local, the vast majority of the beers served there are local, and the people who work there are local.”

The Lagunitas Seattle Taproom, which opened in January 2017, is expected to close its doors for good on January 8th and concentrate its efforts on its locations in Chicago and Petaluma, California going forward.

Words To Drink By (Michigan) – “We have a deep culture and appreciation for beer here that goes deep.” Brewery Vivant Founder Jason Spaulding on brewing in Grand Rapids.

Sasquatch Brewing Closing (Portland, OR) – More sad news from the Pacific Northwest. According to the New School Sasquatch Brewing, which began as a tiny brewpub in 2012 is shutting down both its production facility and their sister brand New West Cider.

“All good things must end. We’ve made the decision to shut down the brewery and cidery. While we’ll certainly miss all our friends and customers, we think it’s the right time to move on to other ventures,” said Sasquatch Brewing owners Tom Sims and Alex Beard in a statement.

The brewery and brand appears to be for sale for $689K.
