The mountainous regions of the Carolinas have been devastated by epic floods brought on by Hurricane Helene, and Asheville, NC, one of the East Coast’s most vibrant brewing centers, has been hit hard. Weve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.

British Scientists Want To Shrink The Size of a Beer Pint For Health Reasons

UK scientists in the UK, exploring new ways to encourage the public to cut back on excessive drinking have released findings of a study involving several British pubs, bars and restaurants where pint glasses were swapped out for something slightly smaller.

According to the NY Post, “the research, published in the journal PLOS Medicine, suggested that offering two-thirds of a pint as the largest size in drinkeries nationwide might be a boon for public health. The British pint, known as the Imperial pint, contains 20 fluid oz while the American pint contains 16 oz. — already approximately 20% less than across the pond.”

According to researchers, the smaller pint trials lead to a 9.7% drop in sales, which the scientists felt good about, but we expect that the bar, restaurant and pub owners didn’t.
