Molson Coors In Talks To Buy Big Drinks Retail Chain In The UK (Denver. CO) – American brewing giant Molson Coors is, according to The Times, in talks to buy Conviviality Retail, an enormous UK drinks retail chain with more than 700 stores that has fallen on hard times.
Molson Coors, the seventh largest brewing company in the world, and home to the Carling, Coors Light and Cobra beer brands (all huge in England), is just one of several suitors which also include C&C Group, (home to Magners cider and Tennent’s lager) and maybe even AB InBev!
Conviviality Retail issued its first profit warning in March when it declared that a “material error” in its financial projections meant that its profit would be £5.2 million less than expected. This was followed by an update later that month where the company added that it was now facing a £30 million tax bill and had suspended trading in its shares (never a good sign).

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Atlanta, GA) – Last night we hit up an uber-small batch seasonal from SweetWater Brewing that was super-hoppy and sessionable at the same time. Fueled primarily on Lemondrop hops, SweetWater Grass Monkey is a 5.4% ABV Witbier which take the Wheat Ale tradition in a decidely hoppier direction.
