Summer’s coming and American craft brewers are addressing the warming weather with an intriguing roster of new beers you’re gonna want to have around as things heat up.
Southern Hemisphere Attitude Meets California Style (Paso Robles, Ca) – Firestone Walker Brewing just debuted the first of three new seasonals scheduled for 2024 and an early batch of this newbie racked up a prestigious award. A Bronze Medal winner at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival in the “International Pale Ale” category, Firestone XPA is a 5% ABV “next generation” Extra Pale Ale, brewed with Southern Hemisphere hops and California style.
“XPA is the number one craft beer style in Australia and it’s something we’re excited to champion it here in the U.S.,” said Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “The appeal of XPAs is obvious–they offer everything you love in a good pale ale at a crushable ABV. We fell in love with the style during our travels to hop farms across Australia and New Zealand and we were inspired to make our own.
On Lone (Lone Tree, CO) – Lone Tree Brewing has returned a serious spring seasonal that was inspired by the classic unfiltered, German wheat ale style of old, and a love of European travel. Brewed with Noble hops and wheat, and fermented with Weihenstephan yeast, Lone Tree Hefeweizen is a medium-bodied 5.4% ABV spring seasonal with perfectly true-to-style notes of banana, spice, and clove.
Darkness Done Right (Denver, CO) – Prost Brewing is an award-winning craft brewery with several outlets in Colorado, renowned for honoring German brewing traditions, from sourcing high quality ingredients to brewing authentic, classic styles. Even their name has German influences with “prost” being German for “Cheers!” And their approach to one historical style is a fav around the American Craft Beer compound.
Brewed using darker imported Munich grain which locks in a dependable smooth malty finish and Weihenstephan yeast, Prost Dunkel is a 5.6% ABV German-style Dark Lager with rich roasted chocolate and nut notes, and a moderate bitterness.
