Beer Alert – New Spelt Saisons, Summer Seasonals And Double IPA’s

It’s almost August…And brewers are addressing the warm weather with a variety of intriguing new beer offerings that pair brilliantly with the season.

Prideful Brewing (Shiner, TX) – Established in 1909, the Spoetzl Brewery has crafted a whole lot of beer over its many years including their flagship Shiner brand. And now Shiner has released the latest addition to its small batch Brewer’s Pride Series. Taking its lead from champagne’s dominant characteristics, Shiner Brewers Pride Brut IPA is a bright and aromatic 6.8% ABV India Pale Ale with a crisp, dry finish and an effervescent mouthfeel.

Death Wish (Chicago, IL) – Burnt City Brewing is a District Brew Yards based brewery, with an ever-evolving Double IPA that now has a new incarnation. Bursting with bright Citra Ekuanot and Simcoe hops, flaked oats and wheat malt, Pterodactyl Deathscream is an 8% ABV double-dry-hopped India Pale Ale, that Burnt City describes as juicy, hazy and over the top.

Jammed Up (Hood River, OR) – pFriem Family Brewers has returned a summer seasonal that debuted in 2018 and became an instant hit. A brilliant showcase for some very fruity hops, PFriem Jammy Pale Ale is 5,4% ABV celebration that’s an aromatic medley of Marion berries, strawberry preserves, candied pineapple and peach, and rounded notes of cantaloupe, blueberries, gummy bears(!) and lemon balm (!).

Palace Intrigue (Portland, OR) – Portland. Oregon’s locally-owned Von Ebert Brewing has debuted something special that was inspired by the modern Saisons being made in Belgium, most directly Glazen Toren’s Saison D’Erpe-Mere. Pumped with big summer stonefruit notes and toned by Belgian esters, Von Ebert Glass Palace is a 6.0% ABV, Spelt Saison that sits at the crossroad of storied tradition and brave departures.

Perrin’s New Side Hustle (Comstock, MI) – Perrin Brewing Company has a new Side Hustle Series release that was inspired by a dessert classic. Incorporating wheat and lactose for a decadent and creamy cake-like mouthfeel, Perrin Pineapple Upside Down IPA is 7% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with Sabro and Styrian Cardinal hops that provide the necessary pineapple and coconut notes to the mix.
