March will soon be a memory and American craft brewers are addressing things with a full slate of new beers you’re gonna want to chase down.
Simplicity Squared (San Diego, CA) – Expanding on its reputation for crafting higher ABV “murky” IPAs and barrel-aged brews, Pure Project is introducing a new beer for a more sessionable state of mind. The perfect companion for wherever life takes you, surf excursions, forest hikes, or an evening with Netflix, Rove Adventure Beer is a 4.2 ABV refresher that will add to, not distract from, what you’re doing.
“Built on the essentials—water, malt, hops, and yeast—this beer is simple, and it’s supposed to be,” says Winslow Sawyer, Pure’s co-founder and head brewer. “The Rove brand is a pivot from a lot of the beer styles Pure has produced in the past. Rove is approachable so you can focus on what you’re doing while you drink it; it’s about being in the moment.”
East Meets West In Texas (Dallas, TX) – Lakewood Brewing has a new year-round that was originally perfected as part of the brewery’s popular Big D IPA rotating series. Liberally double dry hopped with Lotus, Azacca, and Sultana hops, Lakewood Big D IPA is an 8% ABV Double India Pale Ale that melds the juiciness of Hazy IPA with the boldness of the West Coast-Style IPA.
“Last year’s Big D series was a lot of fun for us and a way to experiment with what makes great IPA’s,” said Wim Bens, President and Founder of Lakewood Brewing. “The IPA landscape is always changing, but we think that balance is key to making an IPA that people want to keep coming back to. So we created a wonderful balance of strength, hoppiness, flavor and aroma.”
New From The N/A Corner (California) – Non-Alcoholic beers have come a long way’s since your uncle used to order an O’Doul’s. And there’s a Northern California brewer, Best Day Brewing, which makes a great IPA that just happens to be non-alcoholic. Brewed for those who rise before the sun, blaze trails, build things, and don’t let anything get in their way, Best Day West Coast IPA is a BIG buzz-free India Pale Ale with a rich malt backbone and bright grapefruit notes.
