Spring Is ON, and summertime not all that far away. So American craft brewers are celebrating things with a smart roster of artisan brews you’re gonna want to have around.

Rustic (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has returned a popular limited release that evolved from its experimental small-batch Scratch Series. Mercilessly dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado, Tröegs Field Study Summer IPA is a 6.2% ABV slightly hazy India Pale Ale with bright grapefruit, mango, pear and melon notes.

“Field Study began life as Scratch #327, when we first started tinkering with some new hopping techniques,” explains Tröegs brewmaster John Trogner. “We built on those experiments over the next few Scratch releases and landed on a grain bill featuring a backbone of Rustic Pale Malt.”

For Field Study’s grain bill, Tröegs uses a portion of rustic pale malt grown and harvested in Pennsylvania and produced by Double Eagle Malt just outside Philadelphia, PA. “Rustic Pale malt is kilned slightly higher than most pale malts to amplify the complex cereal and slightly nutty notes,” added Trogner.

Shock Top Goes Big (Littleton, CO / Bend OR / Patchogue, NY)  – Shock Top has just released a stronger and more intense take on its classic Belgian-style wheat ale designed to  compete in the growing high-ABV craft 19.2oz “singles” market.

Brewed with real orange peel and orange puree. Shock Top High Voltage is a massive 9.9% ABV Double Wheat Ale that delivers a layers of juicy orange notes and bright citrus zest tones tethered to a sturdy wheat backbone.

“We didn’t set out to make just another beer – we set out to make a beer that feels as fun and  full of energy as the people who drink it,” said Jacob Neilson, Senior Brand Manager at Shock  Top. “High Voltage is our response to the fans – designed to show up wherever the energy is  high and the night is just getting started, for a community that is spontaneous, social and always  chasing what’s next.

An American Classic Perfected (California) – Non-Alcoholic beers have come a long way since your uncle used to order an O’Doul’s. And there’s a Northern California brewery, Best Day Brewing, which has  introduced its own take on the Pilsner that happens to be non-alcoholic.

Brewed with an all-American mix of hops and malts, Best Day Wild American is a crisp and perfectly balanced Pilsner that’s perfect for summertime doings, but won’t leave you buzzed.
