Spring is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with exciting new beers you’re gonna want to have around.
“Father Time” Time (Denver, CO) – River North Brewing has just announced the first installment in its double-aged series for 2023, so you’ve been warned. Available on tap and in 375ml bottles at both Denver taprooms starting Saturday, April 29 , River North Double Barrel Aged Father Time is a MASSIVE 18.3% ABV Barleywine with rich, fruity notes of almond, cordial cherry, and caramel.
At 18.3%, the beer sips like a fine cocktail or fortified cordial and should be savored as such, meaning don’t even think about getting behind the wheel after an evening with this barleywine for 2-3 weeks.
Double Barrel Father Time is just the first in a five-part double-aged series for 2023, which will include all of River North’s Vicennial Series, a line of high ABV favorites, such as Dark Sorceress Imperial Porter, God Complex Belgian-style Quadrupel and DBA Shadowman Imperial Stout, the next in the series, is scheduled for release in mid-May.
Go Chestnuts! (Cincinnati, OH) – Fibonacci Brewing just announced an uber-interesting release that was the result of a collaborative effort between head brewer Alex Rhinehart and the Southern Ohio Chestnut Company, born out of community gathering and a shared love of chestnuts.
With the support of Rural Action and the Appalachian Staple Food Collaborative, Miller and Rhinehart set out to develop a unique chestnut beer. Castanea No.9 is the end result, a nutty Chestnut Brown Ale and the first in a line of chestnut-related brewing experiments planned for the future.
“This unique chestnut beer is a tribute to the rich culinary and brewing history of the chestnut and a testament to the power of community,” said Rhinehart. “Bringing Castanea No. 9 to life with Route 9 Chestnut Coop and their community action partners has been a wonderful project.”
