Beer Alert- Imperial Cream Ales, Blood Orange Sours And Hazy IPA’s

|March 5th, 2019|

Even though it’s still snowing in much of the nation, spring’s getting closer than you might think…And brewers are looking to the season’s changing with a variety of intoxicating offerings…

Two Newbies From Cape May (Cape May, NJ) – Cape May Brewing’s prolific and this week they’ve two uber-exotic offerings…both available now in 16oz cans.

Cape May Tiny Drink Umbrella: Passionfruit, Orange, and Guava is described as a 10% ABV Imperial Smoothie Ale, that is brewed with pomegranate, black currants, and dark cherries, and is best served with a tiny drink umbrella.

Cape May Storm’s Brewin’ is another first for us, a 9.3% ABV Rum Barrel-Aged Imperial Cream Ale that was inspired by Mari Gras, hurricane lore and rum-running.

Deschutes Looks To Flanders And Wine (Bend, OR) – Deschutes is advancing the whole wine/beer thing with a new release that looks to Belgium’s Flanders region for inspiration. Deschutes Tempranillo Flanders is an 11% ABV Flanders Red-Style Ale that is refermented on Tempranillo grape must from Abacela Vineyards, then inoculated with wild yeast in wine barrels.

What Comes Around, Gose Around (Washington, DC) – A popular Atlas Brew Works limited release has earned a spot in its year-round portfolio and we’re glad that it has. Brewed with blood orange and Himalayan pink salt, Atlas Blood Orange Gose is a 4.4% ABV German traditional that’s been given a bright DC touch.

Damage Control (Placentia, CA) – The Bruery’s Offshoot Beer division has a new IPA release, and they’re always fun. Brewed with an interesting medley of Mosaic, Simcoe, and El Dorado hops and unabashedly unfiltered, Offshoot Beer’s Grain Damage is a 6.8% ABV Hazy IPA with HUGE tropical fruit flavors served up in 16oz cans.
