Award-Winning Georgia Brewer Opens New Brewery In LA

Creature Comforts Brewing has gone “Hollywood” with the opening of a new LA brewery and taproom, with the help of award-winning film director, Joe Russo renowned for his “Marvel Universe’ movies.

In 2020 Creature Comforts Brewing, one of the fastest growing, breweries in the US, announced plans for a new brewery and taproom slated to open in “La-La Land.” And on October 28^th Creature Comforts DTLA open its doors in downtown Los Angeles.

This is the Athens, Ga-based brewery’s first out-of-state operation. But having produced several collaborations with some of California’s most famous brewers including Russian River, Modern Times, Firestone Walker, Alvarado Street, and Sierra Nevada over the years, the West Coast expansion was not completely out of the blue.

And Creature Comfort’s relationship with movie director Joe Russo who has helmed four of the best films in the Marvel universe, Avengers: Endgame (2019), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), wasn’t out of the blue either. The brewery’s Tropicalia IPA made a “guest” appearance with an overweight Thor in Endgame.

And what started back when Russo was filming in Georgia then grew into a real bond and partnership…

Upon returning to Los Angeles, Russo discovered a space near his AGBO production company was zoned for a brewery. He knew of Creature Comforts interest in the city as an expansion market and has been instrumental in helping bring the brand to the West Coast.

“Creature Comforts makes some of the best beers I have ever tasted,” said Russo. “The taste was enhanced when I met the team behind the beer, their standards as great human beings matched their skills as exceptional beer makers. I fell in love with their work ethic and caring attitude towards their customers and employees, as well as their commitment to social causes. I think people in Los Angeles are going to value the way Creature Comforts builds community. Equally important, they’re going to love the beer as much as I do.”

The state-of-the-art facility has a 3,000 square-foot taproom and a 10,000 square-foot production facility. And the vibey taproom is in a reclaimed historic space that incorporates numerous items representing its roots.

Situated on a bustling piazza in Downtown LA near top restaurants and coffee shops, guests can order from nearby Superfine Pizza to be delivered to their taproom table. The brewery also offers extensive outdoor seating with a beer garden and an upper-level covered patio with striking views of the city skyline.

Since launching in 2014 in downtown Athens, GA, home to the University of Georgia, Creature Comforts has attracted a passionate following with its year-round and limited-release beers, skyrocketing them to be the number one craft brewer in Georgia.

And now Los Angeles will the opportunity to enjoy some of the beers that have made the Georgia brewery so immensely popular.
